The Palio of Siena

Four days in Siena for the Palio. A tradition that has been going on for more than 30 years and each time reminds me why I love this city so much.

This time I relied totally on my iPhone to document the ritual of the festival and the enormous organisational machine on which it rests, the city changing under the pressure of tourism and the event.

Rain disrupted the festivities just before the race and this turned Piazza del Campo into a theatre full of visual stimuli perfect for photography.
